David Stratas is a litigation partner in theToronto office
of Heenan Blaikie LLP, practising mainly in the area of administrative law,
constitutional law and regulatory law.
He has appeared in all levels of court, including twelve times in the
Supreme Court of Canada. David is a
Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a member of the Supreme
Court Advocacy Institute, and a member of the adjunct faculty at Queen’s University
law school, where he has won a record seven faculty awards for teaching,
a faculty award for his contributions to the legal profession and a university
award for his contribution to mentoring (to be presented in October 2009). He has written over 80 conference papers
and articles. He is also frequently invited to present at educational
conferences for judges and tribunal members. After receiving his LL.B. at Queen’s
University and his graduate degree (B.C.L.) at Oxford University, he clerked for the Hon. Bertha
Wilson of the Supreme Court of Canada.
